PYD Lends a Hand to Cyclone Idai Affected Schools

Platform for Youth Development (PYD) is a community based organisation socially embedded in Chipinge community. Therefore, PYD has a clear understanding of the social construction of vulnerability to natural hazards at the micro level. To this end, it became imperative for PYD to play a critical role in the reconstruction of institutions of development in the district like schools, clinics and even recreational centres that were recently affected by Cyclone Idai.

PYD facilitated for the securing of roofing materials for Mt Selinda High School and Rimbi School. The organisation was represented by the Social Media and Information Officer, Artwell Chingwara. These schools possess institutional and kinship embeddedness and they are a critical factor in the developmental matrix of the district
